Leak Repair Intervention On A 36” Independent Gas Transmission System (GTS 1)
Location:Okrika
Year:2017

Topline limited successfully carried out leak repair intervention on a 36” Independent Gas transmission system (GTS 1) located in Okrika. This work location falls within the mangrove swamp of the eastern Niger Delta region.

The purpose of this intervention was to carry out SLEEVE WELDING on the 36” Independent Gas transmission system (GTS 1)

Topline was invited to carry out this intervention during the clients shutdown window and due to the terrain we had to mobilize a 6m x 6m cofferdam frame with 54 Pilling sheet (Larsen sheet) to secure a safe working spot for the actual intervention. Once the cofferdam was installed, our competent swamp buggy operators commenced excavation of the leak point to expose the pipe. Concrete / 3PLE de-coating was carried out afterwards.

A Non- destructive test was also carried out on the parent pipe to determine both the current thickness of the pipe and ascertain if there were cracks on the existing weld or seam of the pipe before the actual sleeve fit up. Once the fit up was completed, in-service welding intervention was carried out and recoating followed immediately using white and black polytene wraps on the exposed section. Finally the cofferdam was dismembered and the ditch/ work surrounding was properly backfilled with all the spoils earlier used against the cofferdam Larsen sheets.

The work site was duly restored and remediation carried out on completion of the project. The repair was carried out in compliance with Topline's Quality management system and NLNG Requirements & Standard.
